Eco Joists

Eco joists, also known as open web joists, metal web joists or easi-joists, consist of parallel engineered timbers connected by V-shaped steel webs between, providing a lightweight structural component that spans greater distances than alternatives.

Our joists are constructed using TR26 grade timber, meaning they meet strict criteria for load-bearing capacities.

Our timber frame factory in Sussex offers lengths of up to 12m, with depths of 219mm, 254mm and 304mm, and widths from 72mm to 147mm. Our eco-joists are designed and supplied to customer specifications and we offer a quick 7 day turnaround from approved drawings!

Applications of Eco Joists:

  • Flooring Systems: Commonly used in residential and commercial buildings to support flooring while accommodating services.

  • Roof Construction: Used as rafters or purlins in roof structures, offering flexibility in design.

  • Ceiling Support: Provides a stable framework for suspended or exposed ceilings.

Key Benefits of Using Open Web Joists:

  • Efficiency: Eco joists enable quick and easy installation of services. The open webbing allows services such a plumbing, wiring and ductwork to pass through without drilling or cutting, reducing installation time and labour.

  • Strength + Stability: Our timber joists are engineered to provide excellent load-bearing capacity while remaining stable and resistant to twisting or warping.

  • Lightweight: Eco joists are easier to handle, transport and install compared to traditional solid timber joists.

  • Flexibility: Our joists are available in a range of sizes and configurations to suit various project requirements.

  • Sustainability: Made from FSC-certified timber and designed to reduce material waste, our eco joists are an eco-friendly choice for any construction project.
